The Sussex Royal Tour Of Australia, Fiji, Tonga, & New Zealand: Day Five

The Duchess had a jam-packed fifth day in Australia, but while she began on a strong sartorial note, I feel like Her Royal Highness ended the day with a question mark.

In the morning the Duke and Duchess made a surprise appearance to open Sydney's new ANZAC War Memorial. Prince Harry looked dashing in his military uniform, with his wife pretty damn chic in Emilia Wickstead's "Camila" wool crepe dress in black. Her Philip Treacy fascinator brought some real glamour, and I thought her Tabita Simmons "Millie" pumps were a light, almost whimsical touch.

The pumps made the transition to Chocolate Duchess' next outfit to attend an Invictus Games pre-ceremony event. She wore an Invictus Sydney polo with Mother Demin skinny jeans and Altuzarra's crisp white ‘Acacia’ blazer. There was nothing remarkable going on here - but the look was perfect for the occasion, she looks marvelous in white, and her Illesteva sunglasses were a lot of fun!

Finally, it was time for the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games at the Sydney Opera House, and this was where I got confused (and I'll admit a tad disappointed). The Duchess recycled her fabulous Stella McCartney cape dress, last seen at Her Majesty's birthday concert in London. It's a look you can't go wrong with, even if all these dark colors are getting very monotonous. But then the dress was covered with what just seemed to me like an unnecessary, dark, swamp of a coat - which looks great on its own (see for yourself here: https://www.winserlondon.com/gillian-anderson-wool-swing-coat.html) - but was inexplicable tonight. It just added to the gloom I felt at seeing that messy, messy bun again. I had really gotten used to her polished hairstyles on this trip, so hiding that Stella McCartney under a coat AND the untidy hair was just a gut punch.

Still, this was a long day for the pregnant Duchess and it's her first Royal tour. Fingers crossed for brighter days (literally) ahead and no days off for the Royal hairstylist!
