Their Royal Highnesses Do Dublin
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed a jam-packed day of events in Dublin today before heading home to Kensington Palace - and The Duchess gave us two outfit AND hairstyle changes. P.S. - Always travel with that hairstylist Chocolate Duchess; he is doing you right.
The Royal lovebirds started their day calling on the President and First Lady of Ireland (and their adorable dogs). For this meeting Chocolate Duchess wore a bespoke spin on Roland Mouret's 'Barwick' dress. If today's dress looked familiar it's because she was pictured wearing the original 'Barwick' the evening before her wedding (in deep blue and minus the sleeves).
I actually prefer the blue dress to what we saw today. Today's dress fit oddly across the bust and it was sooo distracting. Adding to my confusion was the enormous Fendi bag. It's a gorgeous bag of course, but the entire effect was that of well-dressed businesswoman (with perhaps an unfortunate foundation garment) rather than polished Royal Duchess. It's challenging to give a verdict on a look where the wearer is perfection, the pieces are lovely, but somehow it just doesn't all come together.
Her Royal Highness's second look of the day was much more successful. It was signature Chocolate Duchess casual elegance - a Givenchy trouser suit and simple white top with a clutch and sleek black pumps by the same brand. Her hair was loose in glamorous waves and all day her makeup was angelically soft and pretty.
All in all, The Duchess of Sussex has shown us some pretty incredible looks over the last two days! There were hats, French couture, bateau necklines galore, and just enough glamour to tide me over until we see Her Royal Highness again. I'll be dreaming of that Dior dress until then!
